One Amazing Fact About Taj Mahal:
Taj Mahal was built without using cement!!
Let's have a look at the brief history about this iconic monument:
The monument was built by Shah Jahan (Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram, the fifth Mughal emperor of India who reigned from 1628 to 1658) between 1631 and 1648. While the strong and common greyish paste that is used to build monuments, called as cement was introduced in 1817 by Louis Vicat, a French Inventor.
The question that arises now is how the Taj Mahal was built without cement?
The answer is rather interesting and has been used in many other monuments around the nation. On request a special type of paste was prepared for joining stone, the paste was a mixture of jaggery, curd, water, urad dal, batase, belagriri, jute, pebbles mixed with Lime water.
The special paste was indeed stronger than cement.
